The Homage Story

Trinity Hill is one of the most respected Syrah producers in New Zealand. Our inspiration for this grape comes from the wines of the Northern Rhone region of France, particularly Hermitage and Cote Rotie. One person who put this part of France on the map internationally with his tireless international promotion of its wines, was Gerard Jaboulet of the producer, Paul Jaboulet Aine.

Gerard was a great friend of the owners of Trinity Hill and we consider him a great influence on what we do.  Unfortunately Gerard died in 1997. We decided to dedicate the wine that was the result of our work to his memory. We called it Homage in his honour. It is the best expression of Syrah in our terroir that we can craft, based on our oldest vines.

Homage Syrah is listed in some of the world’s top restaurants and has received many accolades from numerous wine writers and judges.  It is widely regarded as one of New Zealand’s top Syrahs.
