Your Adventure Begins


Begin your day by meeting your local guide at or near your Queenstown accommodation and travel style in a premium Mercedes Sprinter van designed for touring, with only 16 people onboard. As we depart Queenstown, the first leg of our journey takes us through Central Otago, before cross the dramatic Lindis Pass, and making a stop in Omarama for refreshments.


Welcome to Mackenzie Country


Travelling through Mackenzie Country, your guide will entertain you with stories as we follow the edge of the Southern Alps, passing lakes and canals near Twizel, renowned for fishing of fresh Mount Cook salmon. Once off the main road, we'll follow the  bright waters of Lake Pukaki before arriving at Mount Cook.


Mount Cook Adventure


Welcome to Mt Cook! AHere you will have around 3.5hrs to enjoy free time to explore.  There are many things to do, including a self-guided short hike, scenic flights around Aoraki Mt Cook and the Tasman Glacier, joining in a glacier Heli Hike, or cruising past the icebergs on the Tasman Lake with Glacier Explorers. It is important to note that If you're planning to do an outdoor activity, to remember to come prepared with enough food, warm clothes, and appropriate footwear. The weather in this alpine town can change quickly all year round.


When travelling with Altitude Tours, all guests receive free access to the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre. This museum and theatre offer insights into Mt Cook's unique history and the adventures of one of New Zealand's most famed explorers.


The Journey Back


That afternoon, you will rejoin our guide to commence the journeyback to Queenstown. This day tour spans approximately 12 hours, and our smaller premium vans and helpful guide ensure your comfort and entertainment throughout the day.


The 12 hour Mount Cook day tour departs Queenstown daily at 7:30am, returning by 7:30pm.
